We're often asked who we are.
Instead of telling 'I'm a Malaysian', we would normally tell "I'm a Chinese" "He's a Malay" "She's an Indian"
But personally, I think that we should instead, just tell the fact.
The fact is:
I'm a Malaysian (the first fact that you can't deny, it's on my IC)
and
I'm a Chinese descendant (the second fact that many foreigners won't care much)
I'm not a Chinese as I'm not born in China, and of course, without a Chinese citizenship.
I think appreciation is a basic human courtesy.
When people offer - know your rights.
You have the rights to accept, but you definitely have the rights to reject.
When you accept, do appreciate as people, to a certain extend, would expect something in return when they give.
If you think that the person has some agenda while offering you something - if you are not ready to appreciate and if you don't like the person, the simplest thing to do is, to reject.
It's all about, doing the right thing from the first step.
It is worse, if you give person the hope of putting in emotion on you - for a possible relationship.
As long as there's no clear answer, you'll leave the person hanging.
Why waste time for both of the parties, if you think you are not ready?
Because there's a high possibilities that the person who gives, would come back and seek for some 'respond' from you.
It's not about "I'm afraid I would hurt the person, if I reject him/her"
It's better to hurt him/her (and stop giving hope) on the first day itself, rather than dragging for months, only tell him/her that 'I really think I'm not ready'.
Being hurt on day 1 vs Being hurt after few months of putting in emotion - which one do you think that will give greater impact?
Therefore, dare to reject for the right reason - that's the way people would appreciate you, at the end of the day.
Even doing the charity is better - people would smile at you, thank you - and you don't need to put in emotion and hoping for return.
I think I've mentioned many times - human won't change.
My friend gave a rather interesting statement:
Human, after 21 years old, won't change much.
Even if they have changed, but when they're facing the stressed situation - the original them would appear again.
There are people who like to claim themselves as victims - on why people do bad things on them, on why bad things are happening - but they failed to realise that, they were the one who's causing people to do bad things on them/bad things happening
Some of them claimed that they have to be responsible for the screwed up situation they helped created and need to fix it - but yet, you can see that, the actions they've taken were not helping the situation (or you can say, irresponsible)
They failed to realise the importance of these two simple actions:
i) Don't accept for wrong reason
ii) Reject for the right reason
And the saddening fact is that, many dare not to do it.
I was searching some MV and found some little stories of this MV, and some non-closely related love story
Michael Bublé wrote this song for his fiancée, an Argentinian model - who was also featured in the MV.
Then, on Vimeo, I saw another guy created an MV based on the same song, to tell his feeling towards a girl, after knowing each other for 5 months:
Back then, they hadn't met in real life because the guy stays in west coast and the girl stayed in east coast. (Hence the song, "Haven't Met You Yet")
Almost month later, the girl responded with an MV based on Mariah Carey's song "All I Want for Christmas is You"
Two days later, i.e. 09/12/09, the girl made a surprise appearance in the airport, and they've started dating since then.
So seems like, the guy had finally met her, and she had the guy for her Christmas.
P/S: Two of the latter videos were shot with Canon 7D - it's superb quality I must stress.

It's a real story happened in Australia, during the International Free Comic Day

I guess being frank is one of the hardest thing for people to do.
People want to look good
People are afraid to be teased of their bad past.
But by not being frank, and subsequently, choose to lie, you'll only cause more confusion, more assumption, more wrong decision - which is a waste of time and energy for everybody.
I listen to Hitz FM's Gotcha Call everyday, on my way to work.
And I feel that Ean is really talented.
He's able to speak English in all kind of accent - Indian, Australian, New Zealand, American, British, Malaysian and today - South African.
OMG, he's simply talented, period.
Yesterday I started two monthly donations
1) Sponsoring a kid in a country
I called up the company and asked which of the 4 countries needed the most (they have Bati (Vietnam), Indonesia, Thailand & China in the list), the person in charge said it's Indonesia.
Hence, I chose an Indonesian kid as the child I'd like to sponsor.
You can start doing it by clicking here
Thanks to my friend Jen for giving me the idea (she sponsored a child in Vietnam)
2) WWF 'Our Living Planet' Fund
What triggered me was the recent volcano eruption & earthquake activities - the earth is no longer healthy.
While I don't think I can really do much, but what I can do, is to donate some money to a group of specialists, who have the know-how on how to protect/save our planet
You can start doing it by clicking here
The 'bonus' part is, this donation will be part of your tax relief in the coming year's income tax filing :-)
Thanks to TC for the idea, she's been donating to WWF fund since 2008

What I did is very little.
But when many people do it - the 'little' will become 'a lot'.
It's the thing that every human seek for, I believe.
In fact, I feel that the people nowadays, should live happier than last time.
With technology, you get to contact your friends easier.
By understanding more about human rights, people know what they can actually ask for
By understanding the freedom they have - people get to choose the subject they want to study, the job they want to work (and leave the job if they're really unhappy about it)
People can sing in the pub if they want to.
People can take the photograph if they want to.
People can choose the country they want to live in.
But but but.... by abusing the rights.... one might potentially make the people around unhappy - while you are selfishly happy on your own.
Is that the reason why we see some people nowadays, who seemingly look happy, but is unhappy inside?
It's all about the balance, after all.
The qualities are also known as the quadruplicities, which means there are four horoscope signs falls in a quality category.
If the elements tell you the person's initial impression, then the qualities will tell the person's behavior in the long run.
The following explains the three qualities in horoscope:
Cardinal: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn
Providing the ACTION to get things started.
Keywords: action, decisive, enterprising, initiating, vigorous
Fixed: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
Providing the STABILITY to see things through.
Keywords: conserving, intense, persistence, reliable, resistant to change, stabilising, steadfast, supportive
Mutable: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces
Providing the ADAPTABILITY to make changes.
Keywords: adaptable, changeable, flexible, variable, versatile
Qualities can explain why two person with the same element, behaved differently.
For e.g. Leo (Fixed sign) can be very stubborn on a change of request while Sagittarius can accommodate to it easily (Mutable sign).
Qualities have something gotta do with the season change.
Let's look at how the qualities of the sign progress:
Cardinal -> Fixed -> Mutable
Then, take an example on Summer, which has (Cancer -> Leo -> Virgo):
Cancer (22/6 - 22/7) represents the start of the summer. It leads the start of new season (initialisation/leading is one of cardinal sign's characteristic)
Leo (23/7 - 22/8) represents the middle of summer. It kept the summer going and is considered as the 'peak of the summer'. (therefore, the characteristic of summer is evident and therefore, translate into the 'stubborn' characteristic)
Virgo (23/8 - 22/9) represents the change of season. It sits between the end of summer and the beginning of the autumn. Therefore, the changeability of the season gives the 'mutability' characteristic.
So we know there are 4 elements in horoscope, i.e.
Fire, Earth, Air and Water
The elements play an important role in determining the basic character type and the general approach to life.
The elements are also known as the Triplicities. (as there are three signs in an element)
Following best describe the characteristics of the elements (summarised from various source):
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
People with a strong emphasis of the fire element are spontaneous and impulsive, they apply their energies wholeheartedly. Their emotional response is quick and they have a lively imagination.
Keywords: Active, masculine, spontaneous, quick, initiating, instinctual, outgoing, vitalizing and energetic.
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Earthy people react quietly and slowly. They apply themselves with endurance. Emotionally they are deeply rooted and slow to change.
Keywords: Passive, feminine, solid, materialization, physical, stable, slow-moving, practical, sensual and grounded
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Airy people are quick and animated. They apply their energies in very diverse ways. They tend to intellectualize their feelings and expectations.
Keywords: Active, masculine, intellectual, ethereal, abstract, ideas, detached, social, conceptual and communicative
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
People with a strongly emphasized water element are feeling types and are very sensitive. Their imaginative and emotional lives are deep and rich.
Keywords: Passive, feminine, receptive, sustaining, subconscious, creative, emotions, imaginative, nurturing, introverted and generative
I think it's the second last or third last thing (the last thing would be religion) that you should argue with your friend - especially if both of you are music lover with different preference.
My friend is a heavy metal music lover
Me, on the other hand, listen to classical music.
Our common interest: some rock music, some techno/house music
So one day my friend said "I can't stand you and your classical music, yi yi ye ye yo yo wi wi" (tried to imitate the orchestra pieces)
I replied "I can't stand you and your heavy metal music, WASHAYOU THINKOWE THIS!" (tried to imitate the singer growling)
There are several lines that's not necessary to be put here, but at last, I told him:
"Let's argue over something that's more worth it. I don't appreciate your heavy metal music, you don't appreciate classical music - so there's no need to force to compromise"
The argument stopped there but I felt it's very true.
I remember about 10 years ago I told the other friend:
"It'll be very silly of you to shout in the music hall, having classical music performance: "ROCK AND ROLL ROCKS!!!! CLASSICAL MUSIC SUCKS!!!"
You won't have a good day, I'm sure.

My friends said that I've become quite sarcastic nowadays.
Probably have to thank my friend Justin, who is the guru in sarcasm.
One thing that's really enjoyable when you do sarcasm is when you see the reaction from people - they could be speechless, maybe due to the fact that they know they are wrong or they have to agree with you because they were shocked... etc
Bottom line: Mild usage of sarcasm adds fun in conversation.
Sometimes rumours can be quite scary.
From a goodwill "staying at home cum clearing leave"
The rumours among my colleague were as worst as "I'm infected by H1N1 virus and is currently being quarantined in the hospital"
What happened was, I met up with my friend who's back from London, and we had mutton steamboat.
She got fever on the next day.
The hospital report on the day after she got fever said that she got "H1N1 positive"
But on that exact day, she's fully recovered, as well.
Therefore, to be fair to my fellow colleagues, I took the leave even without having any symptom.
But well, it doesn't matter - it was a good rest, and I watched hell a lot of movies and drama.
