As usual, BEP has those repetitive rhythm that could be annoying to some (yes, I don't like 'I Gotta Feeling' & "Boom Boom Pow")

But I like the 80's feel of the beat - yes I'm sure there's some reference to the 80's music.

And the cute Fergie 'voice' too.

This song is emo, but it's good :-)

The MV is well done in depicting the lyrics - and it's a good idea of telling the 'flash back' and how one could start believing in 'love'

This song and MV are so cute, sunny and cheerful.

And I agreed with what my friend said - it has some sort of 'Coca Cola' feel :-D

I was searching some MV and found some little stories of this MV, and some non-closely related love story

Michael Bublé wrote this song for his fiancée, an Argentinian model - who was also featured in the MV.

Then, on Vimeo, I saw another guy created an MV based on the same song, to tell his feeling towards a girl, after knowing each other for 5 months:


Back then, they hadn't met in real life because the guy stays in west coast and the girl stayed in east coast. (Hence the song, "Haven't Met You Yet")

Almost month later, the girl responded with an MV based on Mariah Carey's song "All I Want for Christmas is You"

Two days later, i.e. 09/12/09, the girl made a surprise appearance in the airport, and they've started dating since then.

So seems like, the guy had finally met her, and she had the guy for her Christmas.

P/S: Two of the latter videos were shot with Canon 7D - it's superb quality I must stress.

So an Iclandic singer,Eliza Geirsdottir Newman, wrote a song bout this volcano.

Short notes: Finally - a piece of work that I call it a 'milestone'. Ever since I know music composition about 12 years ago, I never thought I could make a piece of music with 'complete instruments'

So in this song, 3 basic but essential instruments were used - Piano, Drums & Bass.

Glockenspiel was added for some 'kiddy touch' (I can't quite explain what was that, but it was a replacement for the electronic guitar)

Best of all - I don't know how to play any of the instruments mentioned above.

So thanks to music notation software Sibelius, that made all these possible.

Notation was hard, but thanks to Google, I managed to find the proper chords & notation.

This song was inspired by a friend - she wasn't quite happy in her life (though one may think she is happy) .

"12 Hours" means the time I spent waiting for her reply (I sent a text and asked her how's she), it could also mean that "12 Hours" is a very short moment.

Few things to be ironed out before I call it a 'small milestone'

1) Getting rid of the stupid smoke alarm sound at the background
2) Stop the stupid laptop fan noise
3) Add some back vocal
4) Individual instrument mastering
5) To consider whether to get rid of guitar portion
6) Cross my finger on the proper mixing technique
7) Better singing

Title: Random II
Music: 2008
Lyrics: 2008 - 2010 (still unfinished)

Short Note: Somewhere in 2008, I had idea of this song - something psychedelic, something random, something contradicting.

The melody was 'written' on the spot, but the lyrics were never completed (even for now)

So, little by little, I completed about 35% of the lyrics below (most of the time I 'wrote' the lyrics when I was walking on the street)

And yesterday, I talked to a friend about this, and this friend's 'existence' sort of force-inspired me to complete the rest of them. (and this friend wanted to claim full credit for it, well, so be it)

Music wise, I'd say it's another small milestone - I had used drum sample from Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows, then guitar part, I used my acoustic guitar, with DSP effect by Magix Vandal VST + Waves various plugins = some nice electronic guitar effect.

I won't deny the music style (It's still my first attempt) is heavily influenced by Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows - but I have a good feeling of perfecting it :)

I haven't heard her first album - but this album blown my mind away.

The vicissitude feel in "Devil's Spoke" and "I Speak Because I Can" was great that you can feel as if Laura is playing the guitar singing in the middle of desert.

I felt "Made by Maid" and "Rambling Man" are the quite the same, so I gave my favoritism over the Rambling Man - as the tune has more diversity.

"Goodbye England" gave me the feel of a person sitting in the train leaving the snowy England to somewhere with more sunshine.

"Blackberry Stone" and "What He Wrote" gave some 'down' feeling but it wasn't so bad.

Darkness Descend doesn't sound dark as it seems - more like a dancing tune at the late evening beside the fire - before the last track "I Speak Because I Can" close the album beautifully.

Soothing voice.

MV - nice photography with cinematic feel.

While producing my entry for 7-11 contest, I recalled a song by Beck - dated about 14 years ago.

It's still very listenable - due to its 60s/70s -esque music style.

I like Devils Haircut because of the catchy chorus as well as Beck's 'cool acting' in the MV - a bit like 'don't care' or 'what the f*ck?' look:
