If you click to enlarge the photo above - you'll be surprised to know that:

Less sugar (the one on the right) version of the fruit juice has:

i) Slightly more fat
ii) Slight more sugar (?!?! wtf?)
iii) LESSER dietary fiber

And of course, less sugar version is more expensive.

So the other day went ot Brussels Beer Cafe to have a drink with a colleagues - before one of them become ex-colleague.


Paulwel Kwak (8.1% ABV)

I tried this Belgian strong pale ale even though I read from the review that it wasn't that good - it is for the sake of trying and get the feel of the glass (LOL)

So ya, it's a strong pale ale, but taste wise, I'd still go for the lighter but cheaper Leffe Blonde.

Belle Vue Kriek (5.20% ABV)

I didn't try this, but my colleague did.

He wasn't that impressed cos he said it taste like Ribena. (LOL)

Erdinger Weissbier (5.30% ABV)

Finally get to try this beer after I heard the praise from the boss of Bottles & Bottles @ The Garden.

To be frank, it isn't that great - Franziskaner Weissbier's taste is richer than this one. (Needless to say about Paulaner or Weihenstephaner)

But if you look at the menu, Franziskaner dunkel or Erdinger dunkel is the next thing I'll try out :D

With the additional beers I tried @ Brussels beer cafe yesterday.. here it goes:


Franziskaner weissbier (5% ABV)

I'd say it's a more affordable German white beer. Though the taste isn't as rich as Paulaner or Weihenstephaner, I'd say it's a refreshing one as well.

Tetley's English Ale (4.4% ABV)

Tetley's is a smooth beer.

But, like Warsteiner, the taste isn't that strong.

So it'll be the drink at party/games - if someone wants you to drink a lot :P

And I agreed with my friend - it's more like a chick beer.

Leffe Blonde draft (6.6% ABV)

Another attempt on draft - tastes better :-)

I'd say it's a chick's beer for Belgian beer range.

Tripel Karmeliet (8.4 ABV)

I only had a sip on this - seeing my friend enjoying it very much (just like other Pale ale such as La Trappe tripel etc) I think I should concentrate on Belgian Pale Ale more, after trying some Belgian dark ale.

Chimay Blue (9% ABV)

Alleged to be the best beer among the beer enthusiasts, unfortunately, for a beginner like me, I can't really tell the difference between Chimay blue and La Trappe Quadrupel.

But I must say, it's a very good beer in terms of the taste - you'll get many things (many fruits with hints of alcohol [of course] ) in one package.

That's the reason why I like dark ale.

But not stout, yet.

If you get to taste Hoegaarden and Heineken, you can immediately tell the difference - the latter one doesn't taste that smooth (needless to say other beers at the same range like Tiger, Anchor etc)

But, given the recent beers that I drank, I'd say Hoegaarden (sounds like Whore Garden, somehow, always gave me that impression) is less gassy than Johann Auer, same smoothness as König Ludwig, but Leffe is tastier than Hoegaarden!

It's gassy but the taste is still ok.

It's a German beer and I would rate it at the same rank as König Ludwig.

So, me and my friend had this so called 'beer review' at Cameron Highland.

Reason being:
1) It's an 'Angmo' (western) beverage
2) Cameron Highlands has 'angmo' scenery
3) Cameron Highalands has 'angmo' weather


We started with König Ludwig.

This Bavarian beer is slightly smoother than Löwenbräu, and hence, still somehow reminds me of Heineken.

My friend liked it, and claimed that it's better than Franziskaner. I don't know as I haven't tried it yet.

So this one, Weihenstephaner, another Bavarian beer, is produced by the oldest brewery in the world (another 30 years will be their 1000 years anniversary)

It is... very smooth. It can definitely match with Paulaner (also, another Bavarian beer - the Germans in Bavaria state seem to be busy people), which is our top favorite beer at the moment.

We got this beer from: Stadt restaurant. It's expensive but you can get from Bottles & Bottles in The Gardens.



Leffe (Blonde) is a Belgian beer.

My friend didn't manage to drink this. But my first sips tells me that it's a better beer than Hoegaarden, another Belgian beer (which I last drank 2 years ago) and König Ludwig. (and hence, Löwenbräu & Heineken)

So this is the winner: Weihenstephaner, followed by Leffe and König Ludwig

RM20 for half pint isn't quite worth the taste

Had a chance to try out this German beer.

The taste... is like... a better version of Carlsberg or Heineken.

But no where near Paulaner - it's still my favorite German beer so far.

Which means, it's 5 Germans vs 2 Belgians

Total spent: RM260 on 14 sticks

3 Germans vs 2 Belgians

RM130+ spent on 10 sticks of beers. (it is still a good deal, I must say)

They had better be good.

OK, the advert was just shown in North Korea - for a locally brewed beer.

Well, I'll leave you to figure out.

I've to remind you that, this is a 2009 ad with people from 2009.

Apart from screaming "NORTH KOREA ROCKS!",

I do feel for the people over there - we are much more fortunate in Malaysia.

I tried it accidentally (at gym centre) and found that it's quite nice:

2/3 glass of 100 Plus + 1/3 glass of ice lemon tea.

Result: Sparkling, refreshing and not so sweet ice lemon tea :-)

It's fun to watch.

I saw a Jusco promotion the other day, this new fruit juice is selling at 2 X 1.5L for RM10.50
As I'm craving for fruit juice lately, I tried.

The taste? Hmm, something like the F&N carbonated Orange juice - it's too sweet.

My sister didn't quite like it so end up I was the one finishing them.

First bottle was like... 1 litre consumed in 45 minutes. End up I had two purge on that Saturday itself.

Second bottle... 1.5 litre consumed in 1 hour. End up I had three purge on last Tuesday.

I won't recommend this fruit juice but well, sounds like, in a way, my 3KG weight loss programme has some hope revived now.

That's very sissy of me, isn't it?

It happened about 3 months ago.

Coca Cola changed the packaging back to retro style.. But I don't see it in Malaysia.

Nice. Perhaps it's time for me to wear like Beatles?
