I randomly thought about several products that we use daily - they are mostly made in Thailand.
I guess most of the FDI, previously parked in Malaysia, had been routed to Thailand.
Well, if I am foreign investor, I would do the same too - cheaper labour, no silly issues such as quota ratios..
To sum all up - openness is the key.
The moment you try to control a country with rigid elements such as religion or closed-door policies, you will start to see downfall.
Example? Myanmar. It was once a very rich and prosperous country, but due to its closed-door policies, it had become one of the poorest in SEA.
It starts booming as it opens its door again.
Looking back what happened in the past one year, the first half was drama to the max.
I would say my mind and soul went thru various dramatic encounters, be it willingly or unwillingly.
The second half was a lot more peaceful. But I consider yet another drama - initiated in the first half of the year - ended in early April.
To be honest, I don't regret for the decisions I made, I believe they were the best attempts to move forward in life.
I am happy, especially on the career part. At least it was something that I've been searching in the past few years.
Life wise, I triggered a drama early last month, by chance.
Quite positive so far but the insecure me, will always worry how long will it last, what if it doesn't last, what if it lasts.
Should I blame it on horoscope for it tells that, from my natal chart, I have very mutable personality?
To summarise my currrent state of mind: happy, nervous, positive, worried, calmed, contented, hollow
Or put it in this way: split personality at work.
I found that I blog lesser and lesser.
Facebook is the quickest way to share things.
Am wondering if I have to maintain two sites.
We can see the last election was the most emotionally driven ever.
I hope everybody would keep calm and carry on.
5 years is not too far away.
Even the king didn't comment much. What we as a common citizens have to say about this?
Really. We've done what we could. That deserves a big hand for.ourselves.
If only time can stop at that era.
Personally, I think that was the time people of Malaysia lived in harmony.
People, regardless from any descendant, would come together watch the movie, laugh and talk about it.
Talk about now - which was the last Malay language movie that all Malaysians last watch?
If you look at P.Ramlee's movie - its value is still relevant, the humour is still silly and funny.
You can feel that the people back then were really honest, straightforward and simple.
I hope someday, the day would come - that Malaysians would realise that, happiness means simple things.
It's not peer pressure, it's definitely not emotional - it can start by smiling in this hard time, just like how P Ramlee stayed positive in his movies.
Now I see more human wearing something stuck into thier ears. They call it 'earphone'. Technology has advanced it seems, with them able to make phone call using that headphone.
The device has also become smaller.
That device (20 years ago human called it walkman, but now: smartphone) is something they concentrate on whenever they are free.
They look at the screen, reading news and they have this thing called 'facebook' - which they use to find out what others are doing, any interesting photos. If they find it interesting, they can press the 'like' button or share it. No 'dislike' button, though.
It seems human forgot about self-improvement.
Even the couples or family members are doing that: in the train, in the car, in the park, in the shopping complex, during reunion dinner
In short, more than 80% of them stop talking to each other, using mouth. (they prefer to use sms or whatsapp)
(by the way, I tried to use a smartphone called Samsung Galaxy S3 but failed. Designed for human, they said.)
With this smartphone, human nowadays take photo before they eat. Not the photo of themselves but the food.
My conclusion is as such: in less than 3 years, we can take over the Earth. First thing to do is to hack into Facebook, start spreading propaganda to make human believe that we are friendly.
Most importantly, we will encourage them to stop talking to each other using mouth.
Then before we wipe out human, we disable the sharing function of facebook.
In this way, human can only like our action. (no 'dislike' button, in case you forgot) And since they can't talk, they can only type (on whatsapp etc). The 'send' button will be hacked as well: when they press 'send', they will trigger the human self destruction function.
We will have a clean Earth before we arrive.
Not so clean, cos animal don't use facebook or 'send' button
P/S: I've done a simulation on how the human will react on facebook, on the day we wish to take over. (I love how they could only 'Like' our arrival)
If you would like to know what is it about, you can read from wiki >>here<<
What made me write this post is based on the observations on people as well as discussion with my friends.
Well, I'm one of the post 80's generation, but I found that some of the people, who are just 3 years younger than me, showed another category of Generation, I would call it as FYG generation, i.e. Facebook+YouTube+Google generation.
What makes them think they can do better than the rest is, in my opinion, that they read it from Facebook on how easily a person can be successful, or they watched youtube on how that person can easily achieve something, and get famous because of that.
One last thing, the reason why these people, including me, can get the information more organised and faster than the previous generation, is because we could make use of the internet, especially Google.
That made the FYG generation thought things can be easily done.
More than often, they seek for instructions on 'what to do', instead of thinking 'why this has to be done' or even 'how can I do this better'
Similar to the gadget that they own - they will think of 'what to own' instead of 'why do I have to own it?"
You can't blame them, as company such as Apple or Samsung are pushing the phone generation cycle yearly, while creating the 'must-have' feeling among those people.
Back to how the FYG generation react at work - they often think they have done a very good job, if you don't like it, it's ok, there's always a way out and there's another company which will appreciate me. (especially applicable if there's slight increment in another company)
They seldom seek for more responsibilities as they think they should work 'just enough'.
But of course, there are some people who are of exceptions - so this is just one of my random thoughts of the moment :)
So as usual this afternoon my dad and I took some unknown path - so called trek-discovery.
Then we arrived at a Malay village, road is still new, with kids playing in the front yard.
We also saw Kampung chickens running around then we saw an old western guy taking out his bicycle from his car for a ride.
We continued walking and we arrived at a Chinese cemetery. That's when we decided to turn back to where we came from.
So back into the jungle, we saw a guy drove past us with this motorcycle.
We saw two guys approaching us, my father asked and we got to know we were not far from Sungai Buloh Hospital.
At a small waterwall, we saw the motorcyclist just now stopped his bike - he took out a bottle of Tiger beer.
He saw us and he said 'After work, it's nice to have beer"
I saw he had two empty glasses.
It's in a jungle - at that moment, we thought it's like those Chinese poet in old day who would travel far just to have a drink.
But now, I feel eerie.
Amigos, it's been a while - I'm in sort of hiatus, but will try to blog a bit (tired after the NZ trip)
So according to human, this is currently the month when the hell gate opens, with the hungry ghosts coming to human space to seek food.
This is no hunger game.
But again, in Hunger Game the movie, I didn't see people starving.
Again, this is a totally random note.
