Appetizer (yummy cos it has pork) & hot green tea

There's this Jap restaurant in The Weld (which is less than 200m from my office) that I had never visited before. So I took a chance to have a first try.

I ordered Katsudon set after I saw some review online.


Some salad, miso soup and mochi were the extra


The egg and pork.. omg, juicy and yummy


Best mixed with this chili powder


The dessert - mochi - another omg, yummy as well!!

For the price of RM25.30 - I thought this set is share-able by two persons - I still feel very full after half an hour.

Another visit will be done, in near future (just fmi, dinner time from 6.30PM - 10.30PM ;) )

I heard my friend said nice when he tried this.


Said another nice when he tried the foie gras


Another nice when he drank the soup

I forgot if he said nice when he tried out the tempura dish (I forgot to take photo! Maybe it's too nice for me!)


He doesn't take this kind of raw food so there's no rating from him.


He ordered Teppan-Yaki set, said twice the word 'nice' when he ate the rice


Another nice when he ate this green tea ice cream.

I'm not gonna give a rating.

I thought my friend's "Nice" rating said it all.
And another FYI, the Sushi set you've seen above = RM90.

To anyone out there: Please tell me if it's good :)

I visit this restaurant like... once a month, at least.

Reason being it's the nearest restaurant to get the fresh Japaneses food.

However, not all the food in this restaurant are nice - some even think it's pricey.

I'll give a quick review. Red being recommended, and blue being "You may give it a try"


Sashimi - RM39.00

Thick-sliced and fresh - trust me, it's worth the price :)



Sushi set - RM31.00

Fresh sushi (two egg sushi were hidden behind the "leaf")




Shabu shabu (pork) - I forgot the price

Not salty as the Chinese steamboat - it's in kinda different league. Me and my sister like it.



Katsu Curry Rice + Miso soup - RM25.00

A typical Japanese curry rice - which tastes a bit like Maggie curry :-)



Spider roll (8 pieces in total) - RM31.00


The sushi at the side are so so


But the soft shell crab are up to standard and you'll definitely feel full after eating all 8 pieces. :)

I'd like to try just the soft shell crab next time.

Other things like Unagi set and Nanban chicken set are also worth the try.

Don't try the don (the rice in the stone bowl). I find udon so so, and the garlic fried rice a bit too salty

Overall, I'll give this restaurant a rating of 7.5/10

P/S: You may find the price expensive - but they don't charge govt tax + service charge :)

I dunno what's the name of this food, because I saw it from a Japanese drama - and I don't know Japanese.


Material:
i) Katsuobushi (Dried fish flakes)
ii) Green Tea
iii) Miso

I learned this from a Japanese drama - Osen.

With simple and easily obtained material, here we go:



1) Put miso into the bowl (small bowl, which is slightly larger than the miso soup bowl you usually get in Jap restaurant)
2) Add the dried fish flakes into the bowl
3) Pour the hot green tea into the bowl, stir till the miso is dissolved.
4) Enjoy!



However, I've FAILED

I re-watched the drama (it's featured on episode #6) and found the things I should do better next time:

1) The amount of miso is at least twice than I put!
2) The dried fish flakes was like... thrice the amount I put!
3) They stir the miso with chopstick!! No wonder I had problem dissolving the miso with the teaspoon -_-

On top of that, I think the quality of the dried fish flakes are not so good. I'll shop for a better
version (since I can't read Japanese, I can only judge by... price -_- )

There's a new restaurant near my new house.


Maybe it's new. The food is fresh and juicy - for example the salmon sushi

Felt good about the sushi, so we ordered again.


We tried the tepanyaki chicken set... not bad as well.

Price is reasonable. Food are nice. Good atmosphere.
